Product description

Six Cars. One Decade That Refused to Be Sensible.

For roughly ten years Japan built performance cars with a seriousness nobody outside Japan was ready for, under a gentlemen's agreement about power output that everybody quietly ignored. Six of those cars became shorthand for the whole era. This display puts all six in one frame — the cars themselves this time, rendered as individually cut and layered acrylic pieces rather than the instrument faces.

What's in the frame

The Supra in white, the twin-turbo 2JZ that tuners have been extracting absurd numbers from ever since. The R34 GT-R in Bayside Blue, the last of the Skyline line. The NSX in red — Honda's answer to Italy, developed with Senna's input. The RX-7 in yellow, the rotary that never made sense on paper and always did from the driver's seat. The 22B STI in rally blue with gold wheels. And the Lancer Evolution IX in red, the last of the truly analogue Evos. Each is a separate physical layer with its own depth.

How it's built

Each piece is assembled by hand, not printed. The components sit on a solid wood backboard inside an aluminium alloy frame, behind an acrylic glazing panel, with the parts physically layered so the display throws real shadows and changes as you move past it. Mounting hardware is included and it arrives ready to hang. Free worldwide shipping, with delivery typically 12 to 26 days.

Who it's for

Anyone whose formative car years happened somewhere between Gran Turismo and a grainy Best Motoring VHS. Because it covers six marques rather than one, it is the safer choice when you know they are a JDM person but not which badge they would defend. Pairs naturally with the JDM Legends Tachometer Collection, which shows the same era through the dials instead of the bodywork.

Not a poster. A wall-mounted collection with real 3D presence.

The Gods May Have Aged, But the Legends Never Flame Out

The Gods May Have Aged, But the Legends Never Flame Out

In 1989 Japanese manufacturers agreed among themselves to cap advertised power at 280 PS. It was a gentlemen's agreement, and it was observed in roughly the way gentlemen's agreements usually are. What followed was a decade in which six companies each tried to build the definitive performance car while officially claiming the same output as everyone else. Toyota built the Supra around an iron-block twin-turbo straight-six so overbuilt that the tuning industry is still exploiting it thirty years later. Nissan built the R34 GT-R with all-wheel drive and enough electronics to embarrass supercars. Honda built the NSX in aluminium, took it to Nürburgring, and had Ayrton Senna tell them the chassis was not stiff enough — so they stiffened it. Mazda kept the rotary alive in the FD RX-7 when every rational argument said stop. Subaru built the 22B for its rally homologation and made 400 of them. Mitsubishi built the Evo IX as the last one before the electronics took over. None of them look alike. None of them solved the problem the same way. That is exactly the point of putting all six in one frame.

About Artovelo

Cars Stay With You.
We Frame the Parts That Do.

Some people remember a car by the sound it made. Others by a shape they saw at eight years old and never forgot.

We take the specific details that car people carry around in their heads and turn them into something you can put on a wall. A dimensional display with real depth.

Every piece is assembled by hand, built around the details only enthusiasts notice — the spec sheet, the wheel evolution, the homologation story.
