The One Porsche Built Without a Safety Net
Rear-engine. Rear-wheel drive. Twin-turbo. 700 horsepower. The GT2 RS has always been the 911 variant that Porsche builds for people who don't want stability as a compromise. No all-wheel drive to save you. No hybrid assist. Just a flat-six pushing everything through two rear tires and trusting the driver to manage the rest.
When the 991-generation GT2 RS ran a 6:38.835 around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2017, it held the production car lap record. A rear-wheel-drive car, on a track where grip is survival. The Weissach Package shaved weight with magnesium wheels and carbon fiber anti-roll bars. The PDK gearbox shifted faster than any human could. And the whole thing rode on 265-section fronts and 325-section rears that had to deal with 750 Nm of torque arriving at the rear axle with no front wheels to share the load.
