Porsche 911 Wheel Evolution | 3D Framed Display

Product description

Nine Wheels. Six Decades. One Obsession.

Porsche never redesigned the 911 wheel so much as argued with it, decade after decade. The Fuchs forged alloy of the early cars, the Cup wheels that defined the 90s, the centre-lock designs of the modern GT cars — each one solved the same problem with the technology of its era, and each one dates a 911 at a glance more reliably than the badge does. This display lines them up in sequence so the argument becomes visible.

What's in the frame

Nine wheel designs, laid out chronologically, each rendered as a separate dimensional element rather than a flat illustration. Read left to right and you can watch spoke counts change, offsets grow, and centre-locks arrive — the quiet engineering record of six decades of rear-engined development.

How it's built

Each piece is assembled by hand, not printed. The components sit on a solid wood backboard inside an aluminium alloy frame, behind an acrylic glazing panel, with the parts physically layered so the display throws real shadows and changes as you move past it. Mounting hardware is included and it arrives ready to hang. Free worldwide shipping, with delivery typically 12 to 26 days.

Who it's for

The owner who can identify a generation by its wheels alone, and the collector who already has the books and the models but nothing on the wall that rewards a second look. It reads as design in a living room and as reference material to anyone who knows what they are looking at.

Not a poster. A wall-mounted collection with real 3D presence.

Why Wheels Tell the Real Story

Why Wheels Tell the Real Story

Ask a 911 owner what wheels they're running and you'll get a ten-minute answer. That's because wheels are where every engineering decision lands, literally. Tire compounds, brake packages, suspension geometry, power output, the wheel has to deal with all of it. The original Fuchs alloy from the mid-1960s set the tone: one of the first forged aluminum wheels on a production car, cutting unsprung weight in ways nobody matched for years. As power grew, so did the wheels. The 964 Turbo needed the extra material. The 996 GT3 brought hollow-spoke construction straight from racing. The 997 Carrera 4S pushed staggered widths that basically justified the flared fenders all by themselves. The 991 GT3 went full center-lock, borrowed from endurance racing, no apologies. Then the 992 GT3 RS closed the loop with forged magnesium wheels that weigh less per corner than some complete steel wheels did in 1964. Six decades of material science and engineering thinking, visible in one rim. That's the thread this display follows, not just how the wheels looked, but why they had to change.

About Artovelo

Cars Stay With You.
We Frame the Parts That Do.

Some people remember a car by the sound it made. Others by a shape they saw at eight years old and never forgot.

We take the specific details that car people carry around in their heads and turn them into something you can put on a wall. A dimensional display with real depth.

Every piece is assembled by hand, built around the details only enthusiasts notice — the spec sheet, the wheel evolution, the homologation story.
