Product description

Five Generations. Five Completely Different Answers.

No performance line has changed its mind as often as AMG's C-Class. It began in 1995 with a hand-assembled naturally aspirated straight-six, then tried a supercharged V6, then abandoned both for a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 that had no business being in a compact saloon. Then it turbocharged that. Then it replaced eight cylinders with four and added a hybrid system. Most manufacturers evolve a formula; AMG kept tearing its own up. This display lays all five out with the engine that defined each one.

What's in the frame

Five generations, each with its car, its engine and its specifications: the W202 C36 (3.6 I6, M104), the W203 C32 with its Eaton-supercharged V6 (M112K), the W204 C63 and its dry-sumped 6.2-litre M156, the W205 C63 S with the hot-V twin-turbo M177, and the W206 C63 S E Performance — a 2.0-litre four with an electrically assisted turbo and a plug-in hybrid system producing more than any AMG C before it. Each element is a separate physical layer, not a printed panel.

How it's built

Each piece is assembled by hand, not printed. The components sit on a solid wood backboard inside an aluminium alloy frame, behind an acrylic glazing panel, with the parts physically layered so the display throws real shadows and changes as you move past it. Mounting hardware is included and it arrives ready to hang. Free worldwide shipping, with delivery typically 12 to 26 days.

Who it's for

The AMG owner who has an opinion about which engine was the high point — and everyone does. M156 loyalists will find their argument here alongside the people who think the M177 is the better car. At the largest size in the range, it holds a wall on its own rather than needing a group.

Not a poster. A wall-mounted collection with real 3D presence.

For Those Who Still Believe Machines Have Souls

For Those Who Still Believe Machines Have Souls

AMG started as two engineers in an old mill in Grossaspach, building racing engines Mercedes would not build itself. That origin never quite washed out. Even after Daimler bought the company, the C-Class AMG kept behaving like something assembled by people with strong opinions rather than a product plan. The W202 C36 set the tone in 1995: a hand-built 3.6-litre straight-six, understated to the point of anonymity. The W203 C32 went supercharged and quick in a way that surprised people. Then the W204 C63 arrived with a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 — the M156, AMG's first fully in-house engine — and turned a sensible compact saloon into something faintly ridiculous. It remains the one enthusiasts talk about in the past tense with genuine affection. What followed was the industry catching up with physics. The W205 kept eight cylinders but added two turbos and lost two litres. The W206 dropped to four cylinders and gained a hybrid system, and produces more power than any of them. Whether that counts as progress is exactly the argument this frame is designed to start.
